The entire area surrounding Leeds, UT- St.George, Cedar, Zions, Hurricane, and Sand Hollow– are all known for being quite beautiful, but what people haven’t seen is the secret beauty in Leeds itself.
It’s kind of a secret, simply because we are such a small area, most people don’t know we exist. We’re not what some would call a “tourist area”, though surrounding areas very close by are.
Leeds offers a more hidden beauty, that few are aware of.
Let us share some of that beauty with you:
Where to stay?
The park itself is located by the Leeds exit right off the highway, hidden within the little town of Leeds (population of about 800 people, give or take).
Very underrated little town it is!
The park itself offers RV pull-ins of all sizes, any RV supplies you may need right inside the office, cable tv and internet if you wanted to spice up your nature adventure, as well as clean restrooms and showers.
In addition, we offer campsites in a beautiful grassy Pavilion- each site set up with it’s very own Picnic area, large shady trees, fire pits, and of course access to internet service as well clean restrooms and showers!
As well as camping and RV parking, we offer motel rooms at great prices! Each room includes it’s own restroom, kitchenette, and king sized bed. Others may include a trundle in addition to the King sized bed.
In addition to your motel suite, you will have access to a clubhouse and library, and of course, internet and cable as well.
But enough about us! Let’s talk about all the exciting things you can do in this little area!
Oh, Take a Hike!
Like most of Utah, Leeds is a majority of desert, but unique because of it’s natural red sands and mountains.
BUT hidden in a little known area, is a beautiful canyon filled with lush greens, silky ochre sand and rock, and a smooth waterfall tucked in between: Red Cliffs Conservation Area- Red Reef Trail.
This little hiking trail is not hugely known, and is a beautiful little secret in Leeds.
The trail starts by taking you up through some shrubs and more silky orange sand, into the Red Cliffs Conservation Canyons, where the trail then take you past uniquely shaped trees, and opens up into small, flowing rivers surrounded by lush greens and a tunnel of trees.
The trail will then guide you along the river, leading you into the beautiful towering red canyons, straight into a rain water collection of two ponds between the canyons, filled with frogs and tadpoles and deep enough to swim in.
Here you get a chance to take in the great height of the mountains surrounding you. Admire the stunning canyon that caresses around the ponds, shaped overtime by the flow of the water that once filled the entire canyon.
Boat, Fish, or Dip?
If you are looking to take the edge off of Home life and take the good ol’ boat for a much needed stroll, or crack open a cold beer in your camping chair, fishing rod in hand, we’ve got just the lake for you: Quail Lake State Park.
Right up the road from the Leeds Rv Park and around the bend, you will see the sparkling blue waters of Quail Lake.
Quail Lake offers some of the smoothest, and warmest waters in Southern Utah- with the added conveniency of being located right by Leeds Rv Park!
The reservoir is man-made, created in 1985 with the original purpose of providing an irrigation source. A majority of the water comes from the Virgin River through a buried pipeline.
This lake is a boater’s paradise- 600 acres of water, with several boat ramps to chose from. With the added benefit of not having to decontaminate your watercraft, the lake itself is not crowded like some of the other surrounding waters.
Swimming and Paddle Boarding are also popular here, as the waters are clean and warm, providing soft sandy beaches leading into shallow water.
Quail also offers a wide variety of fish, thriving in the warm water- Large-Mouth Bass, Bluegill, Rainbow Trout, Bullhead Catfish, and Crappie.
History Lesson?
Located only a 4 minute drive away from Leeds Rv Park, you will find the rustic old town of Silver Reef- a retired Wild West Ghost Town (BOO! Did we scare you?)
Silver Reef was a ghost town, booming between 1876-1890, that started in order to mine silver that was found in the sandstone.
The town offers a guided tour Monday, and Thursday-Saturday 10am to 5pm, at only $3 a person, or $10 for the whole family!
The Silver Reef Interpretive Trail Guide begins in the Historic Wells Fargo & Co. Express Station (the oldest Wells Fargo Express Station still in existence, and guides you through historic restaurant sites, spooky old hotels, offices, businesses, saloons, banks, churches, and so much more.
Don’t let it fool you- this tour is unlike any other, and far from boring (trust us on that!).
Silver Reef also offers a Mine Exhibit Video Tour, where you can have a virtual tour of real mining caves, without a bat hitting you in the face…
Feeling Sore from that Hike?
Now it may not be a part of the outdoorsy, Call of Nature, but who says you can’t get a massage while you’re camping?
